Alabama Fans are a little Delusional
Friday, December 1, 2006 at 4:31PM I have been pretty fed up with the talk from Alabama fans that they might get Nick Saban. When have you ever heard of a successful NFL head coach who has complete control of his team, leaving to become the head of a college football team.
This is what the Dolphins Bio says about Nick Saban:
Taking
over a squad that finished 4-12 the previous season, Saban led the 2005
Dolphins to a 9-7 record. The Dolphins’ five-game improvement was the
second highest increase in any of the club’s non-strike seasons,
surpassed only by the seven-game improvement by the 1970 squad. In
addition, Miami’s nine victories last year more than doubled the
Dolphins’ win total from the previous season, becoming only the second
team in franchise history to accomplish that feat, again joining the
1970 edition. The five-game improvement also was tied for the third
largest turnaround in the NFL last season.
Saban made his mark in the college game and decided to move to the pro level. If he wanted to stay in college, he would have stayed at LSU. Alabama fans talk about how storied their program is, but they have won
only one national championship in the past 25 years and that was in 1992.
LSU won one in 2004.
Just because Saban is 5-6 at this time in the season does not mean that he should quit and go coach at Alabama. This is hard to explain to someone from a team that fired their head coach who went 10-2 last season.
Why don't you guys try go after someone realistic like Pete Carrol.
