This is a pretty big deal to me, but I missed my first LSU game where I actually had nothing else to do. Since 1997 I have gone to virtually ever home game. The only one I regularly miss is the Arkansas game because it is held on the Friday after Thanksgiving and none of my family lives in Baton Rouge, so I am usually visiting them. Yesterday, I decided not to go for several reasons:
- Who would I hang out with? Most of my friends have moved away and I had only a few to hang out with that were tailgating.
- The ideal of fighting the traffic to get there and then fighting to get back did not appeal to me.
- My friend John was having a barbecue with ribs, beer and the game on a projector.
- I had a lot of work I needed to get done and when I go to a game it is usually a 15 hour event with a long recovery on Sunday.
If you would have told me 2 years ago that I would have willing missed going to LSU game I would have said you were crazy. I guess it fits into my ideal that the more time I spend working the closer I will achieve my goal of moving away from Baton Rouge.
